Tortola, British Virgin Islands (BVI), March 15, 2012 —
In less than two weeks hundreds of sailors, friends, family and people living in the British Virgin Islands will all gather at Nanny Cay Resort and Marina for the 41st BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival on March 26- April 1st.

nagicoThis year joining the team of sponsors, who help make the event possible, will be Nagico Insurance Company. An avid supporter of the community and local sports, Nagico will be sponsoring the Saturday night entertainment: BVI’s own Quito and the Edge. Quito has been drawing audiences to regatta for many years and this year Nagico will be sponsoring this special night. Nagico Insurance offers a wide variety of insurance coverage including health, car, home and auto as well as marine and boat insurance.

capeairCape Air has also been a big supporter of sports. They have been increasing flights to ensure all sailors from around the world will arrive at Beef Island on time. For some sailors it will be their first visit to the island, so Cape Air will make sure all are welcome.

Sponsored flights by Cape Air will allow us to bring the CEO of Sailors for the Sea and manager of their Clean Regatta program to the regatta. They are coming to present the BVI Spring Regatta the first Gold certificate to the regatta organization for following best practices for a clean environment and protection of the waters to achieve this honor.

piperOne of the longest sponsors of the BVI Spring Regatta is Mount Gay, distributed by Road Town Wholesale. This year they will also be sponsoring their famous Champagne Piper Heidsieck. A special drinks bar will be set up to offer glasses and bottles of Piper Heidsieck along with blended drinks using Mount Gay and the fresh fruit mixes of Island Oasis. Winners of the regatta will have plenty to celebrate and what better way to do this than by popping some cold bubbly from Piper Heidsieck.

marineThe marine industry has also become involved with the Clean Regatta campaign and is sponsoring the water bottles that will be given to all participants and purchased by guests. They will then have free refills of water all weekend from Clearwater. The BVI Marine Association supports all aspects of the industry fostering professional and ethical standards of business and to safeguard our reputation as a center of high-quality service for the BVI and to promote the employment and training of BVIslanders in the marine industry.

The second annual Gill BVI Match Racing Championship has also gain additional support from New England Ropes. This company has been supplying quality marine and other types of lines since 1967. The IC24’s will be given new sheets and lines to improve all teams performances.

There are many other organizations that support this international event with local pride. To make sure everyone gets to all the festivities and back again, Courtesy Car Rental is offering special discounts to all renters and supplying a car to the regatta organization to help us transport our VIP’s in style.

It is essential to the event to have the support of sponsors, volunteers and the thousands who will come and participate. Music is provided nightly for free for everyone to enjoy. Local food vendors will be dishing up their specialties, from ribs and soups from Myetts, French sandwiches from La Baguette, burgers and wings from Pussers, the famous roti from Chan and new this year, Pizza from Island Dish. Always a favourite, there will be ice cream from the Nutty Banana. There are plenty of choices for families and sailors to enjoy Thursday March 29th through Sunday April 1st.
