Vessels entering the BVI should proceed directly to a port of entry. Because space at the jetties is limited, vessels are allowed to anchor in the harbour before making Customs Entry.

Please note that marina operators are obliged to ensure that vessels tied up at their marinas have duly cleared in at Customs.

Depending on the nationality of the crew, the Captain can usually deal with clearance procedures on behalf of the crew and passengers. Documents needed include1) Ship’s papers;2) Valid passports for all crew and passengers. U.S. and Canadian citizens can enter with an authentic birth certificate or voter’s registration card if they don’t have a passport.

Visitors are welcome for up to one month, with a return or on-going ticket, evidence of adequate means of support and pre-arranged accommodations. Visitors must not seek employment whilst in the Territory
